Our Pilates program includes both machine and Mat. Our favorite machines include the reformer and the cadillac. Mat classes take place in our Flow Room and are limited to 8 clients per class. Pilates Mat work is built on the foundations of the Pilates repertoire. Utilizing the body’s core muscles, mat classes specifically focus attention on the flow of movement. Our Pilates Mat program will build endurance, balance, and strength. Each class will leave one feeling taller, stronger and more in tune with one’s body.

OUR BELIEFS

“Think of a tree, Pilates experts say, does it have all its strength in its limbs? No. The tree is only as strong as its trunk and roots. Without a strong trunk, the tree would topple over. It’s the same for human bodies. If we do not concentrate on building a good foundation and a strong trunk or core, we will end up tight in some places and weak in others, injury prone and susceptible to the pitfalls of our occupation or chosen forms of exercise.”

~ Brunilda Nazario, M.D.

“A unique cross between strengthening and stretching.” “A synthesis of weight lifting and yoga.” By now I’m sure you have heard of Pilates – an exercise system developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900’s to fight his pain resulting from polio, as well as to support the health of his fellow World War I comrades. Later, he incorporated the use of bed springs for resistance in rehabilitation programs for hospitalized patients, which eventually evolved into the varied equipment we use today. From movie stars to golf pros, Pilates has gained fame. At Lotus Flow Movement, we enjoy working with everyone from the elderly to golfers, tennis players, weekend warriors, expectant mothers, runners, and anyone who can benefit from better balance, improved alignment, core strength, and the suppleness of a strong and mobile spine.

Working outside of gravity in a supportive environment, then progressing into gravity with increased core strength makes it possible to prevent the injuries that often happen when you are trying to rehabilitate. Learning how to correctly access your core muscles takes time and the feedback and guidance of a highly For those searching for an alternative in place of the traditional mode of exercise trained instructor. Lotus Flow Movement instructors help you discover muscles you never knew you had, as your true body shape takes form. This unique process works in an eccentric contraction, which develops long, lean functional muscles while strengthening your core and increasing flexibility.
