August 14th was a big day for me. I'd been invited to step well and truly out of my own comfort zone and join the Genius Network® at their annual event in Newport Beach, CA.
Genius? Who me? Well, hell yes!! One of my key intentions with the work we do here at Lotus Flow Movement is to
Awaken Mind, Body and Soul.
I believe keeping the mind active and fit is as important as keeping your body fit and healthy. So why not go for Genius level myself?!.
The Genius Network® was created by Joe Polish as a space to really nurture people, ideas and actions.
"An ever expanding system of increasing co-operation and creativity among Unique Ability Achievers"
It's where business owners can meet entrepreneurs and mentors, learn best practices, ask questions, share ideas, forge relationships and make new business connections. I was one of just 150 participants lucky enough to get an invitation. The energy in the room was buzzing and the excitement was infectious.
This 4th annual 2-day event had a program packed full of inspiring speakers, each sharing their strategies, tips and insights on their own definitions of 'success', including;
- Dan Sullivan, founder of Strategic Coach®
- Arianna Huffington, co-founder of Huffington Post, author of "Thrive"
- JJ Virgin, wellness coach, author of the NY Times Bestseller "The Virgin Diet: Drop 7 Foods in 7 days and lose 7lbs"
- Peter Diamandis, founder of the X PRIZE Foundation
- Tim Ferriss, author of the NY Times Bestseller 'The 4-Hour Workweek'
- Brendon Burchard, top motivational speaker, bestselling author of "The Charge: Activating the 10 Human Drives that Make You Feel Alive"
I loved every moment of it - it was equally humbling and inspiring to hear Arianna Huffington talk candidly about burnout and why she wrote her latest book and started a movement called 'Thrive'.
It was amazing and totally energizing to listen to the whirlwind Tim Ferriss talk about mastery and how to learn just about anything. (Read more about Tim here). My mind felt like it was doing the workout of it's life!
Mostly though, it was simply an honor to be present in the room while people I've admired for years told their stories and let us into their worlds. As workouts go, for me this one was was like teaching a month's worth of Lotus Flow Movement studio classes back to back in a single weekend - intense, challenging, but ultimately just what my Mind, Body and Soul needed.
And as for the Genius part... well, watch this space!
